NS-Documentation Centre of the City of Cologne
The Nazi Documentation Centre is dedicated to commemorating, researching and communicating the history of Cologne under National Socialism. It is based in the EL-DE House, where the headquarters of the Cologne Gestapo was located from December 1935 to March 1945. The former house prison with over 1,800 inscriptions from prisoners is a unique memorial site.

The tour "Müngersdorf Sports Park and the Holocaust" explores the site's history.
Inaugurated in September 1923, the sports park was the largest sports facility in Germany until the opening of the Berlin Olympic Stadium in 1936. During the time of Nazi Germany, sports festivals and international football matches attracting tens of thousands of spectators were used for propaganda purposes, while Jewish club members were excluded.
In 1941, the Nazi regime established a prisoners' camp just a few hundred meters north of the sports park. There, thousands of Cologne residents who were persecuted as Jews were held captive under horrific conditions. From there they were deported subsequently to ghettos and extermination camps.
Today, a memorial commemorates this camp. However, ongoing debates regarding the naming of sports facilities and streets highlight the continuing difficulty of grappling with this history.
